Isaac, God’s Promises and My Messy Life

Faith in God is lived out in the "in between" of real life in real time. We see this pattern in Genesis both in the transfer of faith from generation to generation and in what God's people do in between the times where He speaks to them. In Genesis 26, God reaffirms the promises He made to Abraham to his son Isaac. As with Abraham, Isaac grapples with what it means to follow his God in the midst of fear and conflict. The reality Isaac faces is the same one we face as we walk with our God through the messiness of real life: how does the reality of who our God is change how we deal with the bitter and sweet of real life in real time.
