Fasting Before the Father
Nov 22, 2020 • Mike Burchfield
In Matthew 6:1-18 Jesus is teaching his followers not to do their acts of righteousness before people, to be seen by them, but to carry out their acts of righteousness in secret, before the Father, to be rewarded by Him. He then addressed this principle as it related to alms giving, prayer and fasting. In this sermon, fasting before the Father is discussed. The message answers three questions: 1) What is Fasting?; 2) Why have God’s people fasted in the past?; 3) How should Jesus’s followers fast today? Practical applications are given, as this portion of the Sermon on the Mount concludes.
