Jesus, Women and Discipleship

Jul 13, 2014    Mike Burchfield

For many people, Luke 8:1-3 is a mere transition between the events that happened in the home of Simon the Pharisee and Jesus's teaching in parables. But on the contrary, these opening verses give us key information about the place women held in Jesus's life and ministry. This sermon develops this theme, showing Jesus's view of women, his affirmation of them and his inclusion of them in his kingdom, in salvation and as his followers. The sermon is an encouragement to women to view themselves as Jesus sees them and to follow Him by faith in life. And it is a challenge to men, to also see women and treat women as Jesus did, through the gospel.
