Ruth 1: Empty

Apr 8, 2018    David Frederick

In the book of Ruth, God shows his faithfulness in the midst of crisis and chaos. We see the lives of Naomi and Ruth fall apart in just 5 short verses. Naomi and Ruth were both challenged with how they would respond to the crisis of their lives… would they see the hope beyond the hardship? Would they cling to God or turn away? What we see in this first part of the book of Ruth are two different ways to respond to crisis; Naomi expresses her bitterness and cannot see hope beyond the hardship; Ruth sees glimpses of God’s faithfulness and choose to love Naomi with a rugged commitment. In this message explores these responses, learn that the circumstances of our lives are the places where God shows his faithfulness and moves us towards love and we will look beyond the crisis in Ruth to the cross where Jesus is emptied so that his people may be filled.
