Christ's Victory through Suffering

At first glance, 1 Peter 3:18-23 appears to be a difficult text, due to Peter’s statements about Christ preaching to the spirits in prison and about baptism saving us. When we step back and view the text in it’s context, however, it becomes clear that the theme of the passage is Christ’s Victory through Suffering. In this sermon, this theme is developed. Peter shows that Christ accomplished victory, and that proclaimed that victory before addressing how Christ’s victory is embraced.
