Simply, fill out an enrollment form so that we can help match you with one of our mentors.
What happens when I fill out an enrollment form to be mentored?
The form is confidentially received by the mentor liaison who will contact you and discuss the next step. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the process of finding a match who fits what you are looking for. Even after your form is turned in there is no obligation to continue at any point.
What do I have to do to become a mentor in this program?
If you decide that you would like to be matched with someone to mentor, go ahead and fill out an enrollment form and attend a Foundational Mentorship Workshop. Although as a visitor of West Hills, you may attend any of our workshops or be mentored in the program, you do need to be a member of West Hills to be enrolled as a mentor.
How much commitment is this program as a mentor or mentee?
As a mentor, you must attend our Foundational Mentorship Workshop and we encourage you to gain personal equipping as needed. The commitment level for both the mentor and mentee will depend on your own schedule and desired investment. We know that mentoring comes in many various styles and can be formal or informal. However, we do encourage women to commit to meeting with their person for 7 sessions however their schedule allows.
What is a Mentorship Workshop?
The mentorship workshops are interactive classes facilitated by the West Hills Women’s Ministry team and are designed to help equip women in various elements of discipleship. They are periodically offered throughout the year. The Foundational Mentorship Workshop is our basic beginning workshop that provides all you might need to get started with mentoring 1 on 1 right away.
If I enroll, when will I be matched with someone?
There is no guarantee that you will be matched but we will do the best we can to find someone. We encourage all women to utilize the resources provided regardless of a match and to foster organic relationships in the church and beyond. We do not see this mentorship program as necessary for discipleship and know God works in so many beautiful avenues to connect people.
If I enroll in this program as a mentor, can I stop being a mentor?
Of course! Once you are enrolled, we will keep your enrollment on file and you may change it or add to it at any time. If you are in a season where you cannot mentor, we will put your information on hold until further notice.
What happens if I don’t connect well with the person I am mentoring?
You may contact the Women’s Ministry Team at any time if you have any concerns or feel you need to confidentially receive some assistance. We do encourage you to meet enough times so that you have opportunity to build a connection and also consider that this relationship is not designed to be permanent so there is opportunity to benefit from other mentorship relationships.
How long am I matched with my mentor?
We encourage a start and end date for your mentoring relationship. Typically, this includes at least 7 sessions or a season of 4-6 months. Once you have finished meeting for the season, we encourage you to take a break. We would love it if you want to continue with one-on-one mentoring, and would rematch you with another mentor in the program. Of course, you may continue to organically have further relationships with your mentors, but our hope is that this allows you to experience God’s grace through different women as you intentionally pursue growth in Jesus. As a ministry team we desire that you flourish in your faith in God and not depend on one particular person for this growth. However, we welcome feedback in this area as we continue to develop this ministry.

So, please connect with us about any hesitations you may have.
