Morgan Hill, Papua New Guinea and Beyond (2/17 Update)
Sunday February 17, 2013
Monday morning we were scheduled to fly out of Ukarumpa at 8:00 am. It was raining with low visibility. Dirt runway. Hum?? The pilot walked to the take-off end of the runway and he could see the hill just beyond the end of the runway. That is the criteria! Pop up umbrellas, walk to the aircraft, climb up two slippery steps, and away we go. The seven passenger Kodiak is a unique experience. Full power on the turbine and within seconds you are in the air. I was sitting behind the pilot so had a great view of the electronic instrument panel. Made our connecting flights to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Phnom Penh. One piece of luggage was lost but found in 3 hours, praise the Lord. While waiting for our connecting flight in Kuala Lumpur, the Lord gave Nancy the opportunity to have a lengthy conversation with a young woman from Paris. She is a cultural Muslim and was interested in hearing about Jesus. When we parted, she gave Nancy a big hug and kisses. We are now having a great time with Nathan, Christiana, Ava, Paton, and Jason and Kim's family. The Mayer's graciously provided us with a room in their house, which is just down the street from Nathan and Christiana. We visited Haley's Orphanage and helped distribute items donated by members of our church and Aubrey and Allie's classmates. We all enjoyed interacting with the orphans and it was of course an exciting time for them. Had a great visit with the Becks and will be spending time with the Lopez's soon. Since we left Ukarumpa we have received three email requests for parenting info from missionaries who heard about our seminars - praise the Lord for the interest.
